This study examines the intricacies of cross-cultural communication as presented in Abir Mukherjee’s novels 'A Rising Man' and 'Necessary Evil.' Abir Mukherjee is a British author of Indian descent who grew up in Scotland. Although he was born in London, he spent much of his life in Scotland before developing a deep interest in Indian culture and history. His first book, "A Rising Man," is set in 1919 Calcutta and follows Captain Sam Wyndham, a former Scotland Yard detective, as he solves crimes in post-World War I India. The sequel, "Necessary Evil," continues Wyndham's adventures, offering more insight into the colonial era and another intriguing mystery. Mukherjee's series is praised for its historical detail and storytelling, and he continues to write more books in this captivating series.
